We are tired. Instead of policies that promote the above, why don't we all (and government, we're looking at you, too): 🧡Teach men and boys about consent and respect. 🧡Call out misogynistic behaviour. 🧡Ensure the perpetrator alone is held accountable for their behaviour/crimes. 🧡Fix the system, not the women. If you were to experience rape, sexual assault or harassment at university, would you know how to report it? 1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted as an adult (Rape Crisis England & Wales). Students are more likely to have experienced sexual assault than any other group (ONS, 2021). And yet, evidence tells us that the majority of students don’t report these incidents to their university, let alone the police. It is a serious problem. And we can work together to solve it. We are launching an investigative campaign - How do I report this? - involves investigating the current policies and procedures at UK universities for reporting incidents of sexual misconduct. We are lobbying for a standardised and straightforward reporting process which should be mandatory for all UK universities. We’re looking to speak to anyone who is willing to share their knowledge and/or experience of navigating the system. All conversations will be confidential unless we have your consent to share them (which we can do so anonymously).
